After an early breakfast, we head to Nosy Soa Park to meet lemurs in their natural habitat. To reach the “lemur island,” we will cross a small river by canoe and walk about 30 minutes. Here, five species of lemurs await us: King Julien (ring-tailed lemur), brown lemur, dancing lemur, bamboo lemur, and varis. These friendly creatures will eagerly greet us at the boat, as they love the bananas we bring. We’ll get a chance to feed them, observe their antics, and, of course, take plenty of photos.
Lunch will be in a cozy lakeside restaurant, offering local dishes, including sturgeon meat. After enjoying the meal and the scenic views, we will return to Antananarivo, passing rice fields, jungles, waterfalls, and glimpses of village life along the way.
Next, we’ll visit Peyrieras Madagascar Exotic Park to explore the unique local fauna, including chameleons, frogs, and other exotic reptiles. We’ll spend about an hour and a half strolling through the park and observing its fascinating residents.
In the evening, we leave the hotel and venture into the jungle to search for its nocturnal inhabitants: insects, frogs, chameleons, moths, and, most importantly, the elusive nocturnal lemurs. Day 4. August 27, 2025. ANTANANARIVO – ANTSIRABE – FAMADIHANA CEREMONY

The journey from Antananarivo to Antsirabe takes us through the picturesque countryside of Madagascar, with terraced rice fields, small villages, and breathtaking scenery. The drive typically takes 4–5 hours, depending on road conditions and stops along the way.
Lunch will feature foie gras, a culinary delight reflecting the island's French influence. This delicacy, often served with bread or fruit sauces, can be enjoyed at select restaurants en route, particularly in the village of Behenjy or in Antsirabe, known for their French-inspired cuisine.
Today, we will experience the Famadihana, a unique ritual honoring the dead. Malagasy people believe in the immortality of the human soul, viewing death not as an end but as a transition to another state of being. They hold that every departed soul will eventually return to the earthly realm, reincarnated through future generations. This philosophy celebrates life’s renewal through each generation.
During the festive ceremony, families open ancestral tombs and bring their relatives’ remains to light. They redress them in new silk shrouds and rewrite their names on the fabric, repeating this ritual every 5–7 years. This act serves not only to honor the departed but also to renew the bond with their ancestors, emphasizing the cyclical nature of life and death.

We’ll climb limestone pinnacles as if scaling giant steps, reaching the “heart” of the reserve for breathtaking views.

The Tsingy de Bemaraha is a masterpiece of erosion, with rain and water carving stunning karst landscapes over millennia. Spanning about 152 square kilometers, the limestone needles are interspersed with gorges and canyons, creating a unique natural spectacle. Our flight to the capital is scheduled for 10:15 am. Upon arrival, we’ll embark on a city tour of Antananarivo, or "Tana" as the locals call it. Founded in 1625, this city is the largest and most beautiful jewel in Madagascar’s crown. Perched at 1,435 meters above sea level, its name translates to “City of a Thousand Warriors.” The lively morning bustle reveals the rhythm of Tana’s streets—some carry bags and baskets on their heads, while others relax under the sun.
We’ll begin with breakfast at the hotel and set out by 8:00 am for a leisurely exploration of the capital. Highlights include: Zuma Market, a bustling bazaar offering everything from fresh produce to local crafts, Independence Avenue, lined with colonial-era arcades once used as offices, shops, and restaurants, мisits to the Lower Town, home to rice paddies and modest dwellings, and the Upper Town, featuring the royal palace.

In the evening, we’ll visit a panoramic viewpoint for citywide views and, with luck, the best sunset. Dinner at Café de la Gare.

After breakfast, transfer to the airport.
Check-in for the flight and departure to Sainte-Marie at 12:00. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and check-in, followed by a visit to the Pirate Cemetery.
It’s the perfect time to explore Sainte-Marie Island, also known as Nosy Boraha in Malagasy toponymy. This region is celebrated for its unique history, though in the 18th century, when the island was allegedly the heart of Libertalia, it wasn’t marked on maps.
In 1731, the island first appeared on nautical charts with the ominous label "Pirate Island." This small landmass near a key sea route to the West Indies became a popular haven for many seafaring marauders. It was here that they divided their loot, held raucous feasts, and buried their comrades, adding to the island's dark legend. Among these pirates were renowned figures such as William Kidd, Edward Teach, and Olivier Levasseur. To this day, the island’s bays hold the eerie remnants of their wrecked ships. By sunset, we will return to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

In the afternoon, we will take a walk around Nat Island, a stunning spot filled with coconut palms, white sand, and rugged cliffs. We’ll enjoy a scenic sunset, swim in a natural pool, and soak in the fresh air of the Indian Ocean. After sunset, we’ll return to the hotel for a well-earned rest.

After lunch, transfer to the airport for the evening flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.

Tonight, we’ll experience a vibrant folklore evening, featuring local music and dance. Madagascar will unveil its cultural secrets with traditional instruments like the valiha, amponga, and kabosy, as well as dazzling raffia costumes.
